You do, and the way you access it is simple: You focus on what you can control. Meet your greatest renewable resource: your personal energy.
Managing your energy is one of the most powerful things that you can do to create a sustainable, solid foundation for your life and your work.
Why? No one is in charge of your energy but you.
Let me repeat that. No one is in charge of your energy but you. You decide how often to top it up, whether to drain it, what you spend it on, and how you share it.
When I talk about “personal energy,” I’m talking about five areas within your control where you can make small tweaks, consistently over time, and achieve huge results.

Last year, I started an experiment. It started with a birthday gift from a friend: Wayne Muller’s book, Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives.
Inspired, I decided to set aside one day a week in which I turn off my devices and disconnect from the electronic world. No phone. No email. No computer. Not even reading on my iPad.
It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in years.
Suddenly, there was time.
Time to go to the park and watch live music. Time for deeper conversations with my partner and friends. Time for gardening, cooking a leisurely breakfast, taking walks, reading the old-fashioned way– in hard copy print. Continue Reading
